島月桃精油（Shima Gettou）

月桃屬於薑科植物，主要生長於日本沖繩地區。它生命力非常旺盛，即使在烈日曝曬、土壤貧瘠的環境中，依然能生長得十分茂盛，高度可達二至三公尺。

在沖繩，月桃不只是常見的植物，更是當地生活文化的一部分。從傳統飲食、民俗到植物療法，都能看到月桃的身影，因此也常被認為是沖繩長壽文化的重要植物之一。

月桃精油主要分為兩個品種，其中最具代表性的，就是日本原生的島月桃（Shima Gettou），另一種則是台灣原生的大輪月桃（Tairin Gettou）。

本次介紹的是日本沖繩的島月桃精油。

島月桃精油以新鮮葉片經水蒸氣蒸餾萃取而成，產量極低，是相當珍貴的精油。平均約需要 100 公斤的新鮮葉片，才能萃取出約 30 毫升精油，得油率不到萬分之三，因此每一滴都十分珍貴。

它的香氣與一般薑科植物不同，沒有薑的辛辣，也不像尤加利那麼清涼，而是帶著清新的綠葉氣息，融合淡淡草本、花香與微微辛香，聞起來乾淨、溫潤又充滿生命力，具有濃厚的森林植物氣息。

如果你喜歡綠色植物調、森林系香氣，島月桃是一支非常值得收藏，也很有日本特色的精油。
